The Story BEHIND FINA
Fina started as a dream I kept coming back to. A passion for jewelry that never left, and a desire to understand it more deeply.
Real Gold. real talk.

The founder of fina
meet melissa
Fina Jewelry is me, Melissa de Repentigny a Canadian founder who started the brand at 31 after years of dreaming about building something of my own. Growing up in Montreal with European heritage, I learned to see jewelry as something more than what you wear.
I was drawn to pieces with a past: family jewelry, old objects, and the feeling that something small could carry emotion. That curiosity led me to archaeology, then gemology, and eventually to Fina.

THE MOMENT THAT SHAPED THE BRAND
#1
In 2015, I visited the Boboli Gardens in Florence, Italy. During that trip, I walked into a building where crystals from around the world were being displayed, alongside a video showing how gemstones are mined.
I remember being completely in awe of the colours and natural formations, and of the idea that the earth could create something so beautiful on its own. Something clicked in that moment, opening a deeper curiosity in me for the world behind the stones.

FROM CURIOSITY TO CRAFT
#2
I went on to study classical archaeology and took part in two archaeological digs, one in Thessaloniki, Greece, and another in Valencia, Spain. Being surrounded by ancient objects, worn textures, and fragments of the past inspired the way I looked at design.
I became more aware of material, detail, and the way something made by hand can still carry meaning centuries later. That way of seeing has stayed with me, and it continues to shape Fina today.

REAL GOLD. REAL TALK.
#3
My education became one of the strongest influences in my journey. Archaeology shaped the way I see objects, history, and meaning, while my studies in gemology helped me understand the world behind gemstones.
At the same time, loving jewelry from outside the industry shaped the way I wanted Fina to feel. I knew how confusing it could be to understand what was worth buying, or who to trust. Fina grew from both sides of that story: a desire to understand jewelry more deeply, and a desire to make that world feel clearer for others.
